In this pivotal role of Managing Director, Mr. Hanna directs the management of all company operations and strategic opportunities. Mr. Hanna's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, planning, design, construction, acquisitions, leasing, finance, human resources, sales, marketing, financial performance, regulatory compliance, and the coordination of interdepartmental functions.
Under the leadership of company President Thom Harvey, Mr. Hanna has directed the company's portfolio growth from a modest 30,000 square feet of total space in 1996 to its current scale of over three million square feet of space. Mr. Hanna has orchestrated $95 million of new acquisitions during the past seventeen years. Additionally, Mr. Hanna has directed the site development and leasing of 2.3 million square feet of new industrial and commercial space since 1997. He has also managed in excess of 1.5 million square feet of lease renewals since 2009, during which period the company maintained a 97.8% occupancy rate. Over the course of his professional career at HHA, Mr. Hanna has organized $150 million of commercial and institutional financing for the HHA real estate entities. Mr. Hanna has also led the sale and recapitalization of $59 million of assets between 2002 and present day.
In 2008, Mr. Hanna created and established the Delaware KIDS Fund, a Harvey Hanna sponsored 501-c-3 non-profit charitable organization designed to assist local area Kids in Distressed Situations. For many years, Mr. Hanna also loaned his expertise to the Centreville School's annual capital campaign, and he helped advise this institution, a school for kids with learning differences, with real estate and project execution. Currently, Mr. Hanna sits on the Board of Directors at New Horizons (formerly Blackfeather Academy), and most recently retired as an original board member of the Newport Rowing Club, both local youth-based non-profit organizations. Mr. Hanna receives a great deal of enjoyment from his coaching of countless youth sports teams.
In 2011, Mr. Hanna was awarded The 2011 Entrepreneur of The Year by New Castle County Chamber of Commerce. He sits on the Delaware Council for ULI. Mr. Hanna is a licensed real estate agent in the States of Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. He is a licensed Associate Broker in the State of Delaware. Prior to joining Harvey Hanna, Mr. Hanna held various management and administrative positions with various Harvey solid waste enterprises. Mr. Hanna left USA Waste, Inc., later Waste Management Inc., (formerly Harvey & Harvey, Inc.) in 1998 to lead and facilitate growth in the Harvey real estate companies.
Mr. Hanna is a native of Delaware and currently lives in Greenville, Delaware, with his wife and children.
