Established in November 2008 by Thomas J. Hanna, The Delaware KIDS Fund an acronym for ‘Kids in Distressed Situations’. It is geared around assisting Delaware area kids that are at risk or in need for whatever reason. Delaware KIDS Fund is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing goods and services such as; clothing, food, shelter, scholarships, educational grants, counseling and mentoring.
Sadly, one in five kids in Delaware is struggling to get a consistent meal. Taking care of our next generation is paramount to providing our community with safer streets, brighter futures and a better functioning society. It all begins at the family table.

The 7th Annual Delaware KIDS Fund 5K is almost here! Help fight childhood hunger by supporting our Delaware KIDS in NEED this summer, a time when they need it most. Since it started, the race has raised $60,000 to help children throughout Delaware. This year there will be two Races; the ‘7th Annual Delaware KIDS Fund 5K’ race will take place in Newport, DE on August 6th and the ‘Inaugural Que Pasa 5K’ race will happen at Que Pasa Restaurant in Dewey Beach, DE on August 13th.
Did you know that 1 in 5 children in Delaware face hunger? According to Ryan Kennedy, the Community Outreach and Business Developer coordinator for the Delaware KIDS Fund, the issue is worse in the summer which is why the run is held in August to raise awareness.
Delaware KIDS Fund is an acronym for ‘Kids in Distressed Situations’ helps at-risk children in Delaware who may face violence, abuse, family financial troubles, or other distressing situations. It is a non-profit organization founded by Thomas J. Hanna, VP of Harvey Hanna & Associates, a commercial real estate company. Proceeds from the event are donated directly to various youth emergency food relief programs throughout Delaware.

The HHA and The Delaware KIDS Fund team was extremely proud to be presented the ‘Community Service Award’ at the Delaware Business Times Family Owned Business Awards ceremony held on June 23, 2016. The Delaware KIDS fund, a nonprofit organization inspired by Thomas J. Hanna in 2008, seeks to provide goods, services and funds to distressed and at-risk children throughout the state of Delaware.
The program is designed to provide essential services to local kids in need by offering financial support for essential needs, clothing, shelter, food, counseling and mentoring for abused, grief stricken or disease-afflicted children. One in five local children today in Delaware struggle to receive a consistent and nutritious meal. The Delaware KIDS Fund and HHA have consistently led a community-wide initiative.

Harvey Hanna & Associates is very excited and honored to be a finalist for the 2016 Family Owned Business Award, presented to winners by Today Media and Delaware Business Times later this month. This elegant event will honor the impact and legacy of Delaware-based family owned businesses make to the local economy and community. Winners will be revealed at the event, taking place Thursday, June 23rd at the Christiana Hilton in Newark, Delaware.
There will be awards presented to winners of the Small Size Business, Medium Size Business and Large Size Business. As well as Specialty awards for the following categories; Excellence in Community Service, Excellence in Customer Service, Excellence in Innovation and Technology, Legacy Family Business Award, Emerging Family Business.
The panel of judges include members of the business community and Today Media executives who take into account the following when making their decisions; family involvement, succession planning, ethics, innovation and active community service.

Looking for a fun way to support our local fire company?
Come out to the Minquas Fire Company’s 1st Annual Cornhole Tournament this Saturday, April 9th, located at 21 North James Street in Newport, Delaware. Registration begins at 9:30 am and bags will be flying at 11 am.
1st tournament will be a double-elimination BYOP Doubles w/ a guaranteed prize of $1000 CASH for 1st Place. Additional prizes will be based on the number of participants.
Cost is $80 per team of two if registered by April 8th and $100 per team of two day off the event. Food and drinks included; Roast Beef, Meatballs, Green Beans and Mac & Cheese served from 12-2 pm, plus Beer, Wine and Sodas provided from 11 am to 3pm.
2nd tournament will be a Double-Elimination Blind Draw for anybody who is interested in hanging around. The cost will be $20 per person and payout will be participation based. 50% of proceeds will go to the cash prize pool and 50% of the proceeds will go directly to Minquas Fire Company as a donation. Anticipated Start Time is 4:00pm.
