Happy Hour Highlighting the ‘Creative District Development Plan’ in Wilmington

If you’re in town next Wednesday, August 12th, you should definitely register for the ‘Summer Happy Hour & Tour of Market Street and Wilmington’s New Creative Arts District’ meeting at ‘Chris White Gallery’ at the Shipley Artist Lofts and touring the Market and Shipley Street corridors, ending up at the popular eatery Cocino LoLo owned by executive chef Bryan Sikora and his wife, Andrea.

Summer Happy Hour & Tour of Market Street and Wilmington’s New Creative Arts DistrictIt promises to be an exciting three hours revealing the revitalization of the Quaker Hill area west of Market Street – 4th to 9th Streets and Market to Washington Street. The district is undergoing a series of redevelopment projects that focus on creative production and consumption. The revitalization plan is fashioned after Paducah, Kentucky renowned artist relocation program.

Great things are in the works for the city of Wilmington’s Quaker Hill district and you’ll want to be in the know. It’s also a chance to rub elbows with all the movers and shakers. The event audience will be filled with representatives from the legal, finance, corporate, technology, real estate and non-profit communities.

‘The Creative District plan, developed through a partnership that includes Wilmington Renaissance, Interfaith Housing, Christina Cultural Arts Center, the Chris White Community Development Center and the Quaker Hill Neighborhood Association, relies on “place-based strategies,” an incremental effort to place compatible activities near each other in a way that unifies the entire community.’ — OutandAbout
