Support Delaware KIDS in Need this Holiday Season
December 8, 2015
Today in Delaware, one in five kids is struggling to get a consistent meal. At Harvey Hanna and Associates we believe that taking care of our next generation is paramount to providing our community with safer streets, brighter futures and a better functioning society. It all begins at the family table.
The Delaware KIDS Fund was established by Thomas J. Hanna in November 2008 and is an acronym for ‘Kids in Distressed Situations’. It is geared around assisting Delaware area kids that are at risk or in need for whatever reason. Delaware KIDS Fund is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing goods and services such as; clothing, food, shelter, scholarships, educational grants, counseling and mentoring.
In addition to the Delaware KIDS Fund Annual Appeal, this year there will be 2 special raffles; ‘Star Wars Episodes 7 Package’ and ‘3 Night Stay at Hyatt Place in Dewey Beach’. Raffle tickets are only $5 each, are tax-deductible and all proceeds will go directly to the Delaware KIDS Fund. Raffle drawing is on December 15, 2015 at 7pm.
The movie package includes 2 tickets to the premier of the long anticipated Star Wars Episode VII “The Force Awakens” at Westown Movie Theatre in Middletown Delaware on December 17th , 7:15 pm, a $100 gift certificate for concessions, limo and a Star Wars swag and comic gift package.
The team at Hyatt Place is showing its support for Delaware KIDS Fund by awarding one lucky raffle donor with a THREE NIGHT stay at the fabulous hotel – in the heart of Dewey Beach! This raffle runs through January 1, 2016 and the drawing will be on January 2nd.

122,310 adults and children in Delaware do not have sufficient food – each day, every day – half of whom are children at risk.
Over the last seven years, the fund has disbursed over $62,000 to worthy organizations and crisis needs in Delaware. Organizations such as ‘The Bridge of Hope Food Bank’ in Wilmington, ‘Student Backpack Program’ of NCCC, ‘Cape Henlopen Food Bank’, ‘Our Lady of Grace Orphanage’ in Newark, ‘The Delaware Food Bank’, ‘Limestone Presbyterian Church’, ‘Family Promise’ of northern NCC and the ‘Sunday Breakfast Mission’, to name a few. Founding partner Harvey, Hanna & Associates has donated over $1 Million dollars to Delaware causes since 1997. This article, ‘Doing What’s Best for Kids’ was recently published by Greenville & Hockessin Life magazine.
“There is a personal connection with any effort such as this. I’m a father of three kids myself and having been in out of various children’s hospitals, seeing those kids that are less fortunate than others; it hits home. A few years ago, we as a family decided to consolidate our giving and formalize it in the form of this Delaware KIDS Fund,” shares Thomas J. Hanna, VP of Harvey Hanna & Associates.
The Fund was established as a response to Delaware’s ‘food security crisis’, based on the premise that ‘no child of any age can flourish and grow without adequate nutrition’ and has grown to encompass much more since its’ conception. The Delaware KIDS Fund not only supplies nutrition for Delaware youth’s physical growth, it also helps to feed their minds through the mentoring program, counseling, scholarships and educational grants.
Your gift will allow the Delaware KIDS Fund to accelerate its efforts during the Holidays and into 2016. Please consider making a tax-deductible gift either online or by sending a check payable to ‘Delaware KIDS Fund’ to:
