Delaware’s Regional Anti-Hunger Conference Takes Place Next Monday, May 4th
Delaware’s third annual hunger conference is to take place next Monday, May4th from 7:30 am to 3 pm at ‘The Chase Center’, 815 South Justison Street. This is the region’s first anti-hunger conference for both adults and children! If you’d like to participate, you’ll need to hurry as registration closes tomorrow, April 28th at noon. Cost is $50; you can purchase tickets at Food Bank Delaware.
The Food Bank of Delaware, Brae’s Brown Bags and the Food Research and Action Center will presenting this year’s hunger conference titled Coming Together: A Community Response to Hunger. The title is meant to symbolize that it takes all of us; children, adults, nonprofits, government entities, businesses, faith-based organizations, educational institutions and others working together to end hunger in our communities.
Featured speakers include Jared Bernstein, Senior Fellow at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, Former Chief Economist and Economic Adviser to Vice President Joseph Biden, Kevin Concannon, Under Secretary, Food, Nutrition and Consumer Services, U.S. Department of Agriculture and Dr. Sandra Hassink, President, American Academy of Pediatrics.
Commercial Real Estate Developer, Harvey Hanna & Associates in partnership with The Delaware KIDS Fund is one of the many sponsors of the event. Delaware KIDs Fund is non-profit organization dedicated to providing goods and services to children at risk and in distressed situations. More than 500 adults and children are expected to attend the full day conference that will focus on innovative ways our community can work together to improve nutrition and alleviate hunger.
